We are located in a Conservation area within the beautiful Thames Valley, with plenty of local visitor attractions. We will continue to add to this list to help make your visit just part of a great day out for the whole family.
BURNHAM BEECHES - Woodland walks
Just 10 minutes by car from Burnham Beeches, the remnants of a vast forest that once covered almost the entire county of Buckinghamshire.
Described as one of the finest woodland tracts anywhere in Britain and a favourite film location, Burnham Beeches has appeared as Sherwood Forest in Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves, an Irish woodland in The Crying Game, ancient generic England in First Knight and Ivanhoe, and even a more tropical setting in A Town Like Alice.
CLIVEDEN - National Trust day out
Just 5 minutes away by car is the National Trust's Cliveden, with its glorious gardens, woodlands and flower trails overlooking the River Thames.
The Garibaldi Inn is shown on an 1876 Ordinance Survey map of the local area and it is widely recognised that our namesake Giuseppe Garibaldi (1807 – 1882), the Italian patriot stayed at nearby Cliveden House in 1864. So it is likely the Garibaldi was founded sometime between 1864 and 1876, following that famous visit.
THE THAMES PATH - Riverside walks
The Thames Path follows England’s best known river for 184m (294km) as it meanders from its source in the Cotswolds through several rural counties and on into the heart of London.
Our pub is located within short walking distance, easily accessed across farmland from Cookham bridge, or by road from the railway bridge where it crosses over to the Bucks side of the river in Bourne End.
